BioCat2003
Second Annual Conference & Exhibition
December 11-12, 2003
Barcelona Hilton, Barcelona, Spain

Dear Colleagues,

Following our success with the initial BioCat2002 conference in Philadelphia, PA, USA, The Catalyst Group Resources (a member of The Catalyst Group) presents BioCat2003, which features emerging biocatalysis and services available to develop biotechnology-based products across industry segments involving fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals, biopolymers and biochemicals.

The agenda for BioCat2003 will focus on developing the interdisciplinarian approaches required to co-develop the latest manufacturing and discovery methodologies, new instrumentation, computerization, scale-up practices and techniques. These are just some of the exciting presentations you won't want to miss:

  • Dr. Kevin Madden (Microbia, Inc.) "Rewiring Cellular Systems: A Successful Strategy for Generating Industrial Production Strains"

  • Dr. Antje Gupta (Juelich Enzyme Products) "Enzyme Catalyzed Enantioselective Reductions - A New Enzyme for Production of Alpha-hydryoxyacidesters in Industrial Scale"

  • Professor Nicholas Turner (University of Edinburgh) "Directed Evolution of Oxidases and Oxygenases for Applications in Biocatalysis"

Most importantly, the conference format is designed to foster participant exchange about recent innovations and to allow you to establish professional linkages to continue industry networking. We're also adding a Poster Session during the breaks on both December 11 and December 12.

BioCat2003 takes the biocatalysis platform mainstream to encourage industry/government/academia interaction and to cross-fertilize information to stimulate the faster development of partnership opportunities. New tools are being deployed in fine chemicals/pharma such as metabolic pathway engineering, randomized genetic evolution, advanced expression and new array that will assist scientists to develop biocatalytic processes faster and more economically than traditional methods. Utilizing these new tools and partners will speed-to-market new biorenewable products.
