Multi-client Study Proposal "Alternative Energy and Fuels Technology", a comprehensive and thorough assessment of alternative energy and fuels technologies, is now available. It quantifies the current status of resources in two broad areas - nonrenewable and renewable - then identifies more advanced R&D ideas and investments where energy, petroleum and chemical companies can participate for growth, both in the short term (3-8) years and longer term (10-20 years). The study benchmarks commercially existing technology in each of the alternative energy resource markets (with the exception of nuclear energy) and uses oil as the gauge against which the alternatives can be measured. The report emphasizes the efforts of the "major" players from a commercial, government and technical basis, for alternative energy development, globally. It also includes those smaller companies or ones in which the technologies are in earlier development stages. The study captures both catalytic and non-catalytic advancements and provides a listing of the projects which are in evaluation or development, as well as an assessment of their potential impact. Volume 1 addresses the areas of non-renewable energy sources, including natural gas, coal, coal bed/coal mine methane, tar sands/oil shale and methane hydrates. Volume 2 contains our assessment of renewable sources, including biomass, solar/photovoltaic, geothermal, wind and hydro. Together, the two volumes represent a strategic commercial and technical analysis that provides defined process development and commercial opportunities to invest in new business development ideas. The volumes also include the likely timelines, risk versus competition and the size and breadth of investment. It is visionary. "Alternative Energy and Fuels Technology" includes highlights
Our comprehensive report, completed in August/September, 2005, is very timely, given the convergence of strategic, investment and market factors in this rapidly expanding field.
