As an alternative route to fuels or chemicals, syngas has reached a new, and unparalleled, position of importance! Syngas derived from the gasification of coal, biomass, petcoke, resid and heavy oils is proving to be a versatile pathway with numerous environmental and economic advantages. As a result, a number of major initiatives are underway to capitalize on the opportunity - major energy and chemical companies, governments, even speculators, are all involved!
"Syngas Production and Conversion to Products - A Strategic Assessment of the Technologies, Markets and Competitive Landscape" is a very timely two-part multi-client study from The Catalyst Group Resources (TCGR) to address the changing needs of the market and issues facing technology developers and business practitioners today. Syngas producers need to understand the challenges and opportunities as they pertain to feedstock costs and flexibilities. Syngas converters (i.e., producers of ammonia, methanol, oxochemicals and alternative fuels) need to assess recent technological improvements and the roles to be played by catalyst producers and licensors. With the changing derivatives markets in alternative fuels and power (e.g., IGCC), energy and petrochemical companies need to grasp the likely impacts, choices and trends that customers are likely to demand in the new high growth segments. TCGR's study will provide a uniquely integrated value-chain assessment, from feedstock to enduses, in the syngas production and conversion train. Others have documented "snapshot views" on enduse processes, which at best capture the top three (3) commercially used in the industry today. TCGR"s will go well beyond these, to provide detailed business analysis and R&D pipeline examination that can be used to determine the shifts/changes required to pinpoint future investment decisions. Clients anticipate when TCG/TCGR offers a study, there is a technology/business opportunity contained therein! The study is available in printed format as well as electronically (as a PDF file), allowing unlimited use/distribution of the report on a site-license basis.
