In the nearly four (4) years that have passed since these benchmarking studies were initiated, a significant number of changes have altered the supply/demand drivers. These important alternate fuels areas now need to be reanalyzed and updated in light of sector changes in supply, security and political/regional influences, the least of which is $100+/barrel oil! Due to the important changes which have occurred, In this study, the major catalyst- and process-related R&D and commercialization efforts in advancing alternative energy technology will be reviewed and analyzed. A listing of the projects which are in evaluation or development will be assessed for their competitiveness and potential impact. Areas of focus for this “strategic update” will be limited to five (5) in the non-renewable area and five (5) in the non-renewable areas, as follows:
