Intelligence Report:
Business Shifts In The Global Catalyst Industry
2001 - 2007

The Ninth Biannual Edition of the NACAT Report

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 24, 2001

The Catalyst Group Resources (a member of The Catalyst Group) is pleased to announce the launch of the biannual publication of the "Intelligence Report: Business Shifts in the Global Catalyst Industry 2001-2007." From inception, these reports have been recognized as the standard in the industry and have been consistently quoted by the press e.g., Chemical Week, Chemical & Engineering News, etc., as well as other publications. Now in its ninth edition, the report has evolved and has been re-scoped based on client needs to be global in content and perspective. In 1996, it was re-titled the "Intelligence Report" to reflect its true content and purpose as an important reference tool focusing on business changes and technology impacts to enduser industries. The report has been used by leaders in the chemical industry to successfully conduct their business and has provided them with competitive benchmarking strategies and insight in this highly dynamic market place.

New business and technology perspectives that the ninth edition, which is to be published in March/April 2001, will deliver are:

  • Comprehensive and concise presentation and review of business statistics, strategies, and growth opportunities across all sectors of the global catalyst market.

  • Understanding of the impact of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and their effect on the future refining, petrochemical, specialty chemical and polymer catalyst markets. These M&A's have created very large global companies with the capability of leveraging their technologies to ensure sustainable growth. They also have become very formidable mega-global catalyst purchasers with considerable buying power.

  • A review of new and existing high growth opportunities in catalyst supply and process technology licensing and raw materials including ways the global refining industry will meet the stricter specifications, e.g. lower sulfur limits, being imposed on transportation fuels.

  • The growth of metallocene and single-site organometallics in polymerization catalysis relative to Ziegler-Natta systems, including overall industry value and end-market penetrations.

  • In the recently added "New Markets & New Industries" section, the focus will be on the role of catalysis in the commercial supply of high-value fine chemical and pharmaceutical products, as well as retail/consumer applications.
